"Just keep swimming"... Christmas 2021

It's my 7th year in the store (!) and I finally feel like I'm getting into a bit of a rhythm at Christmas time.

Here’s what I can tell you about Christmas in our shop…

Leslie cranks the carols while we decorate an enormous amount of fruit cakes.

Marcus tries to convince us he’s quite grinchy about the whole thing, but then we catch him spontaneously dancing so no one takes him very seriously. (Yes, that really happens. More often than you think!).

And this year, we all realised that Jess’ dream job is to be an actual elf in Santa’s workshop. If she can’t do that, then at least she can wear a different Christmas outfit to every shift (sometimes multiple Christmas outfits in one day). She’s like the Christmas spirit personified.

So, the lot of us hustle and bustle our little hearts out all through December. But we also laugh and sing a lot. And Christmas somehow becomes both the most exhausting and most rewarding time of the year.

This year, our Christmas spirit has been amplified by knowing how much we’ve overcome in the past couple of years and the idea of a fresh start in 2022.

2021 became a mantra of “just keep swimming”. I love any excuse for a fresh perspective, and a New Year is the perfect one. It’s time to create a new mantra… and breathe life into the plans we didn’t quite get to pursue while we were just keeping on top of the water.

As always, we are beyond grateful for you, and our whole community of wonderful customers, friends, and family, who have shopped and visited over the past year. Your support means the world to us. We hope you feel that when you shop with us.

We’d love to see you in store for our last week of 2021! Pop in and say hello, let us know how we can help make your Christmas baking easier.

If we don’t see you before we close next Thursday at 12:30 pm, we wish you and your family the happiest and healthiest holiday and a fabulous start for 2022.
