Good things come in threes.

Somehow in the last month, we breezed past our third year anniversary since Marcus and I purchased the Cake & Icing Centre from Margaret and George. What!? How did that happen so fast!?
I don't know if you've heard the saying that '90% of businesses fail in the first few years', or however it goes. Well, that was certainly on my mind for the last few years. We were so lucky to be able to purchase this amazing legacy business and it feels even better knowing we've made it to our three year milestone.
It hasn't been without its rollercoaster moments, we've had so much to learn along the way. And we've done our best to be authentic and find our feet whilst still respecting the way that the business was run before. I feel like we've made some great changes, including launching our new website, shipping products Australia-wide, bringing in new product ranges and adding decorating classes. But there are definitely things we can do better and we're working hard to make those changes too. So, I this month I took a moment to say 'thank you' to you to the customers on our email database for their continued support of our business. And I wanted to extend that thank you to you too, because if you're reading this then you're also supporting us in our dream.
One thing I've been thinking about in particular is providing more value to our customers, and I want to start sharing more with you of what we're up to behind the scenes and what we're creating in our kitchen. Some of our customers aren't even in the same state as us! And if they can't pop in to chat, we want to bring the chat to them.
Any time that I want to make a positive change in my life I start with a 'decluttering' session, it's exactly what we started doing the moment we bought the shop and we're still working on it now. This time, I've started the process of decluttering our email database to make sure that we're only contacting people who will get value out of what we have to write. I don't know about you but I hate spam mail! And I don't want to be the author of spam mail either.
It might seem crazy (why would you want to write to less people?). But, what this means for me is that I know I'll be able to chat with a bit more freedom to people who are keen to hear what we're up to. Go team!
If you're not on our mailing list, make sure you subscribe. But only if you're super keen to get mail from me telling you all about my week, my goals and our cake creations.
Thank you so much for your support and I hope you're as excited as we are as to what our fourth year in our little cake shop will bring.
